Building Backlinks through Commenting
One of the best ways to get quality backlinks to your web pages is to make comments on relative-topic blogs. This is trickier than it sounds, for several reasons. The first issue is that many blogs are set by default to assign "no follow" attributes to comments. This means you get zero credit for the link with Google (but at least some credit with Yahoo and possibly MSN) on blogs that use No Follow tags.
To get around this, you can hunt for blogs that are using platforms which do not assign No Follow tags. B2Evolution and Drupal are the best examples. So you need to locate blogs on a relevant topic using one of those platforms which are open for comments. This is impractical without software specifically designed for the task. Personally I use a program called Comment Hut to search for Drupal blogs, and I love it.
The comment you leave must be relevant to the topic. Leave an intelligent comment that adds to the material. The way you get your link is in the URL field of the comment form, which will link your name to whatever URL you input. You should choose your targeted search term as your name (as long as it doesn’t sound too spammy) to get a good anchor text link.
The best links are from higher PR URLs. Comment Hut lets me filter the search results by PR so I only go after the PR3 or higher blogs. Another nice feature of that software is that it takes me right to the web page in my browser when I double-click the links in the results. It usually doesn’t take me more than a half-hour to get several valuable links this way.
A word of caution: Don’t over-use this tactic. Getting too many comment links at once would be just plain foolhardy.
