How to Comment for Traffic
Commenting on relevant blog posts is something most internet marketers do to get backlinks. Done correctly, it is very effective and actually has become almost a necessary part of any good SEO campaign. But what most marketers don’t know how to do is comment for traffic. Did you even know that was possible?
To pull this off you need to locate an extremely relevant blog or two that are posted on frequently and have a lot of regular readers. You can tell by looking at the comment sections of previous posts. If you see a decent string of comments behind multiple recent posts, that is a good candidate.
What you want to do now is be one of the first commentors on upcoming blog posts. Nothing tricky or spammy; use a short name that makes good anchor text and your site URL just like you do when commenting for links. Just do a good job on your comments! By getting there first the rest of the regular readers will also read your comment and some of them will follow your link out of curiosity.
There is a free tool available called Comment Sniper that will not only help you search for relevant blogs, but will actually let you subscribe to the ones you choose and be notified whenever a new post is made. It’s really cool; a popup appears on your desktop notifying you of a new post so you can scurry over and leave the first comment. Here is the link for it:
You might want to take it a little easy and not be the first comment on every single post. Pick your spots well and comment on the ones where you can really contribute something interesting.
